Joey Mercury Reportedly Leaving Backstage Role At Ring Of Honor
Joey Mercury is gone from Ring of Honor following a report by PWInsider. The former WWE producer and wrestler was working with ROH in a creative and producing role behind the scenes and has been since May 2018. He is said to have been removed from both positions following the company’s recent tours of the UK. PWInsider reports that it was a “mutually agreed upon decision.” Joey is still contracted with ROH for the time being due to a non-compete clause.
Mercury was quietly released from his WWE role back in 2017 and worked as a trainer on the independent scene between then and his 2018 hiring in ROH. He’s most famously remembered as a member of CM Punk’s Straight Edge Society in his wrestling days, as well as one half of Seth Rollins’ J&J Security during his heel run at the top of the card.

WWE Stock Down Over $10 After Third Quarter 2019 Earnings Call
On the day that WWE reported losses in live event revenue and merchandise and missed all their projections in revenue, their stock dropped $10.40, or 15%. It now sits at just over $56 a share, near its 52 week low of $53.25. The company did beat profit expectations, but still lowered their outlook for the coming months.
Vince McMahon and other top executives were not on the financial call this morning due to WWE holding Crown Jewel this afternoon. With ratings continuing to decline on top of these figures, it will be interesting to see how the company tries to right the ship just as they settle into their new norm on FOX and USA.

Tonight at Crown Jewel, Tyson Fury defeated Braun Strowman by count-out. After the match, Braun Strowman regained a measure of his heat by landing a Powerslam onto Tyson.

In a WWE digital exclusive, the boxing champion said the following regarding his match tonight and a potential return to the squared circle.
“It was absolutely fantastic. A great experience. I was really happy to be here in Saudi Arabia on a massive show and Braun definitely is The Monster Among Men,” he began. “I can’t believe he got back up and slammed me to the floor and you know it was, it was a bit of a cheap shot after the bell. But what can we do? It’s WWE.”
As far as his future is concerned, Fury’s focus now turns to his usual realm of Boxing and his February 22 fight against Deontay Wilder.

Bray Wyatt is the new WWE Universal Champion, as we saw The Fiend ‘rise from the ashes’ to defeat Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. It certainly was a happy Halloween for the horrific competitor.
In a match that saw great brutality underneath the ominous red light, Bray Wyatt overcame a tremendous number of stomps and a pyro explosion to rise up and dethrone Seth Rollins in Saudi Arabia.

NXT Set To Enter The Battle For Brand Supremacy At Survior Series
WWE has officially announced that this year at Survivor Series it will be Raw versus SmackDown versus NXT.
NXT expanded to 2 hours on the USA Network on September 18th and on today’s Q3 earnings call, George Barrios touted the brand as a strong third brand for WWE.

Back in the days of the Bragging Rights pay-per-view, the ECW brand was never involved in that event. This is the first time WWE will put three brands head-to-head for brand supremacy.
According to a report from PWInsider, there is talk of potentially doing a WarGames match at the event in Chicago, but with NXT doing two WarGames matches the night before at TakeOver, it is unknown as to whether they will utilize the gimmick two nights in a row.

AEW Dynamite Viewership Down 200k Against World Series, NXT Down Over 100k
Both NXT and All Elite Wrestling went up against game seven of the World Series on Wednesday night and viewership continued to fall as a result.
AEW Dynamite pulled in 759,000 viewers on TNT per Showbuzz Daily, which is down from the 963,000 they got last week. That’s a drop of over 200,000 viewers. Meanwhile, NXT pulled in 580,000 viewers during its two-hour run. That is down from the 698,000 last week. Once again AEW is still on top.
As far as rating demographics go, AEW placed sixth place for the night for viewers 18-49 (down from fifth place) and NXT came in at No. 32 (down from No. 30). American Horror Story won the night, while South Park came in at No. 2. Two NBA games and Challenge: War of Worlds rounded out the top five.

Tyson Fury ended up beating Braun Strowman in Saudi Arabia, but it might not have been in the way that he had hoped. Fury—making a big entrance to The Isley Brothers’ “It’s Your Thing”—ended up beating Strowman by countout, as Strowman was unable to meet the referee’s count after Fury cracked him with a right hand on the floor.

WCW Halloween Havoc 1997 had the instant classic between Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio (we already reflected back on that doozy), but this PPV (sponsored by Slim Jim as you’ll soon come to know) also had the rubber match between Diamond Dallas Page and “Macho Man” Randy Savage.
The DDP & Savage rivalry had to be one of the most noted wrestling grudges of 1997 as it’s one that ran through most of year. The two’s first match happened at WCW Spring Stampede in April and DDP came out the victor even despite having an “in the NWO’s pocket” referee reluctantly administer the three count. Macho Man however received his retribution at July’s Great American Bash when Scott Hall gave “the edge” to Savage by interfering on his behalf, evening the score at 1-1, which leads us to Halloween Havoc.

ROH Announces Details On Weekly TV Show Airing In the UK
Ring of Honor (ROH) announced through their official website that ROH TV will start airing in the UK on the Fight Network on November 8 at 9 PM. The following was issued:
Pro wrestling fans in the UK will soon have the opportunity to watch “Ring of Honor Wrestling” every week on television.
Beginning Nov. 8, Fight Network UK will broadcast ROH’s TV show every Friday night at 9 p.m. This will mark the first time “Ring of Honor Wrestling” will air on British television. The program is currently available via the FITE TV app.
ROH just concluded it’s successful Honor United UK tour this past weekend, holding shows in London, Newport and Bolton.
ROH is the home promotion for UK stars such as “The Villain” Marty Scurll, “Overkill” Mark Haskins and “The Prestigious One” Joe Hendry.

WWE just sent out a press release containing the company’s 2019 Third Quarter Financial Report. The highlights start off with revenue being $2.1 million dollars down from last year’s quarter, but also touts the debut of SmackDown on Fox and NXT’s move to USA Network. The initial details are below:

Kevin Fertig, best known to wrestling fans as Mordecai and Kevin Thorn, recently spoke with Wrestlezone’s Bill Pritchard about his history in the wrestling business as well as his success in the real estate world.

The title match between the Lucha Bros and SCU served as the main event of tonight’s AEW Dynamite. Pentagon Jr. almost ended things early with a huge piledriver but it wasn’t enough to put away Frankie Kazarian. With help from Scorpio Sky, SCU was able to battle back into the match. Fenix hit a huge cutter on Sky that led to a near-fall, but a lackluster cover allowed him to kick out.

Kabuki Warriors Retain Belts, First-Ever Women’s War Games Match Made
The Kabuki Warriors retained their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on NXT, taking down Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox in an incredible match between the two superstar groups. Things ended with Asuka being able to utilize the green mist to her advantage, blinding Dakota Kai long enough to get the win.
After the match, however, chaos erupted, as Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir all came out to attempt to attack Kai and Nox. However, Rhea Ripley quickly made her way out to the ring, staring down Baszler the entire time until she was knocked down by Io Shirai, who had run out. What followed was a handful of superstars – including Biana Belair, Candice LeRae, and many more – all brawling inside the ring.

Io Shirai had a big entrance to Wednesday’s episode of NXT, as she was joined by pop sensation Poppy during her march to the ring. Once inside, Shirai claimed a big victory right away, as she took down Candice LeRae in a match between two superstars who look primed to challenge Shayna Baszler for a title.
After the match, however, Shirai was quickly attacked by Rhea Ripley, who came diving into the ring as Shirai attempted to continue assaulting a downed LeRae. Ripley managed to deliver a nasty kick to Shirai before stealing a chair from her and attempting to land a shot. Thankfully for Shirai, she was able to escape from the ring, leaving Ripley in the ring yelling after her.

The Boogeyman is a weird dude. In his heyday on SmackDown and ECW, he did everything from eating worms to ripping “moles” off of faces. Since then, he’s popped up occasionally backstage at WWE shows to fetch sandwiches, recite nursery rhymes and generally cause unrest. On the premiere episode of After The Bell with Corey Graves, Ric Flair was one of four guests, taking the interview just before heading to Saudi Arabia to cheer his team on to victory against Team Hogan. Ric stated that he admires Ali and Roman Reigns from Hulk Hogan’s team, but the roster thins out after that. Then, the Nature Boy dropped an interesting fact that could come into play at the event.

The Golden Greek is set to be honored by his peers in Las Vegas.
The Cauliflower Alley Club announced Jim Londos will be the recipient of their Posthumous Award at the 2020 edition of their annual awards banquet.

First-Ever Women’s Match In Saudi Arabia Confirmed For WWE Crown Jewel
WWE has just confirmed they will host their first-ever women’s wrestling match in Saudi Arabia as Natalya and Lacey Evans will face off at WWE Crown Jewel on Thursday.
WWE announced the move at a press conference at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh; the full announcement is below:
STAMFORD, CONN., October 30, 2019 – WWE (NYSE: WWE) today announced at a press conference at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh that the first-ever WWE women’s match in Saudi Arabia will take place tomorrow, October 31 as part of Riyadh Season, which includes more than 100 events over a two-month span featuring world-class entertainment and sports properties.

Dustin Rhodes Praises Sonny Kiss After AEW Dark Match
Dustin Rhodes and Sonny Kiss teamed up during Tuesday’s AEW Dark to take on Peter Avalon and Q.T. Marshall, winning the match thanks to Rhodes. Afterwards, Rhodes and Kiss appeared backstage to discuss the win, where Rhodes took the time to praise Kiss for his wrestling abilities.
“The world out there listening right now, this right here is Sonny Kiss. He did awesome, incredible partner to have in the ring for AEW Dark, we killed it out there as always.” Rhodes said, before Kiss thanked Rhodes for being his inspiration, showcasing his outfit as a tribute to Rhodes. Kiss went on to thank the fans of All Elite Wrestling for supporting him, and said they hadn’t seen the last of the tag team duo.
Closing out the talk, Rhodes once again praised Kiss and his skills in the ring, before Kiss asked the AEW fans to come up with a name for the tag team duo. Needless to say, it seems like we haven’t seen the last of these two together.

Ken Shamrock was set to address IMPACT Wrestling fans after losing to Moose at Bound for Glory and many thought he was going to announce his retirement. Instead, he was interrupted by Joey Ryan. The sleazeball put his lollipop in his pants and told Shamrock that he’s accomplished a lot but that he has one more mountain to climb. Ryan then gestured toward his crotch and said that he makes wrestling fun again. Shamrock responded by going, “Oh. I know who you are. You’re that penis guy!”
Shamrock said that he’s a real fighter while Ryan is just a gimmick guy, and Ryan asked why Ken is afraid to touch it. Shamrock then stated that he’s not scared of anyone and he’s staying in IMPACT Wrestling. The two will face off next week.

Ahead of this week’s WWE Crown Jewel, a handful of WWE superstars have arrived in Saudi Arabia earlier. While they won’t be wrestling in the event, Natalya, Lacey Evans, and Lana have all decided to make the trip overseas.

In an image that popped up on social media, all three superstars were seen at an airport ahead of the event. While the WWE has yet to be able to hold a women’s match in Saudi Arabia, that apparently will not be stopping them from showing up to cheer on the many other superstars set to take each other on.

In the AEW Dark episode four opener, Sonny Kiss got to team with one of his heroes in Dustin Rhodes. The duo took on Peter Avalon and Q.T. Marshall, and wound up victorious. The win came after Sonny Kiss took out Marshall with a Meteora and Rhodes hit a Final Cut on Avalon for the pinfall.

The main event of AEW Dark was a triple threat between Darby Allin, Jimmy Havoc, and Jack Evans. The street fight wound up being quite wild as the participants used plenty of tables and chairs during the bout. All the weapons made the match feel like home to Allin, who would end up winning after he hit a coffin drop with a chair onto Havoc and Evans.

Former WWE superstar Justin Credible – also known as Aldo Montoya – recently sat down with The Hannibal TV, where he discussed a handful of events from his career. One of those were a time where Credible was in Montreal with a handful of other WWE superstars, and things got a bit carried away, leading to Credible having to wrestle while drunk.

RAW sees another drop leading into this week’s Crown Jewel event.
According to ShowBuzz Daily, this week’s episode of WWE RAW brought in 2.133 million viewers, which is down from last week’s 2.341 million viewers.
The hourly breakdown is as follows (in millions):
8 pm: 2,326,000
9 pm: 2,146,000
10 pm: 1,928,000
WWE RAW viewership has dropped three out of the four weeks, but was up last week compared to the October 14 (Columbus Day) show that had 2.278 million viewers. There is some good news, however, as RAW was the fourth ranked show on the night in the 18-49 demographic. This week’s RAW was also the thirteenth overall ranked show on the night in total viewership.

All Elite Wrestling Adds Judges Panel Tiebreaker Stipulation To World Title Match At Full Gear
All Elite Wrestling has announced they will be bringing in a panel of three judges in case of a tie in the World Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Chris Jericho at Full Gear on November 9.
AEW announced the new tiebreaker stipulation for its world title match in Baltimore on Saturday, Nov. 9, noting the judges’ vote will come into play under the following conditions:
In the event there is no winner at the end of the 60-minute time limit, a panel of three esteemed judges, who will be seated at ringside, must vote for a winner. In the event there is not a unanimous choice, the majority decision will be the winner. This will ensure that a draw will not be the outcome of this World Championship title match.
AEW has not revealed who the judges are at this time; this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite will feature an advertised contract signing between Cody Rhodes and Chris Jericho.

I’d been caught up in the bubble of WWE and what they wanted me to be and how they expected me to perform as a character, and I took some time off to re-evaluate who I am and where I came from. I re-evaluated what I want to do and what I want to achieve, and I decided the best thing for me is to be true to who I am.

This is where it was revealed that DeJoseph, the former Executive Producer and co-creator of Lucha Underground that ran from 2014 to 2018, will have his first day on the job at Saturday’s Super Fight pay-per-view.
“Since the last season of Lucha Underground, I’ve had an itch to get back in the game,” DeJoseph said from his home in Los Angeles. “I’ve been watching what they’ve been doing and the steps they are taking to keep building, and I can’t wait to get my hands dirty with MLW.”
